Janie S. Mershon is owner and founder of Expectations Inc. and ThinkFirstSports®. She is an attorney, and has earned two degrees in psychology, a B.A. in experimental psychology from Villanova University and an M.A. in counseling psychology, from Immaculata University. She is a Certified Child Advocate through the Philadelphia Bar Association and a Certified Mediator, trained at the Center for Solutions in Media, Pennsylvania. She is an adjunct professor at Drexel University teaching Higher Education and the law. Janie serves, presently, on the board of The Support Center for Child Advocates, in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, where she is also a volunteer attorney serving the needs of children. Janie, also, serves on The Drexel University Parents Council, under the direction of University President, John Fry.
Most notably, Janie has over 25 years experience with Youth Sports Careers. Her three children, all college athletes, have played in 11 different areas of sports, including that as football quarterback, basketball shooting guard, soccer center striker, pitcher, IM swimmer, Waterpolo and the list continues. Her oldest son played Quarterback at Ithaca. Her youngest son swam in the Big Ten championships for The Pennsylvania State University. Her daughter, MVP of the 2013 WNIT Tournament, playing for Drexel University, currently plays professional basketball in Europe having traveled to 29 countries, as a player in the prestigious Euroleague. Janie in 25 years has been associated with over 50 teams and their respective coaches. Her interaction with parents range from little league to professional athlete. A college, high school and middle school cheerleader, herself, Janie has followed sports since she can remember.
